Behavioral.

Leadership & Drive

To prepare for behavioral prompts, I still recommend the Amazon methods. Amazon is the gold standard for behavioral interviews. That means preparing for the introclusion + S.T.A.R. method. Here is some advice on how to grade bahvioral mocks.

That said, Meta is looking for:

  • Self-awareness

  • How do you learn

  • How do you self-reflect

Do you:

  1. Seek feedback

  2. Self-reflection

  3. Have proof point that you learned

To get a sense of types of questions you will encounter, check out this blog post.

How They Grade.

Humility

Meta likes to ask tough questions about difficulties and failures. They are looking for humility. Those who worked in consulting might find these questions tough as you weren't allowed to fail. In tech companies, if you take big swings, you will miss.

Failures.

Learnings. Learnings. Learnings.

Failure questions are all about learning. Start out any failure story by sharing your learnings and admitting your failure upfront. Don't start with a long-winded explanation of the situation. Tell the listener why this is a good story and what to look for before you start sharing details.

Weaknesses & Strengths

Top 3

Have at the ready your top three strengths and top three weaknesses. You want to pick your strengths and then the flipside of those strengths are your weaknesses. Be able to speak to how you are working on each one.

Warning: No throwaway weaknesses. They need to be real (and work related).

Communication Tip

Humility is Key

I can't say it enough, they are looking for deep humility. You need to speak to how you made mistakes and learned from them.

Don't Forget

Structure is Still Important

You still need to be structured in your delivery. Try the rule of three. What are the three most important things you are tying to get across to your listener. List those first.
